The Project

By purchasing one or more of these books you will not only be promoting literacy here at home, you will be helping make a difference in the lives of many African children, primarily HIV/AIDS orphans, through education. Twenty five percent of the price of each book sold will be donated to Joining Hearts and Hands, Ltd. to provide educational opportunities for these children that otherwise might not be available.
The goal of Joining Hearts and Hands is to build meaningful relationships with educational communities in Western Kenya through projects, initiatives, and activities which promote dignity, opportunity, and self-sustainability. Under the direction of William and Joanne Cala, who oversee each and every project, Joining Hearts and Hands continues to rebuild schools, provide scholarships to children for secondary education, host health clinics and start micro-businesses in East Africa.
However, Bill and Joanne dream of one day building their own school. The location is near Kisumu, Kenya and it will serve HIV/AIDS orphans. The school will be attached to a community center that will provide vocational training for adults and secondary school students. Through Joining Hearts and Hands they will also provide staff development for teachers and business and trade training for micro-businesses.
The community center will have a computer lab that will serve the communication needs of the local community. In addition, this community center will also house a medical clinic that will meet the needs of the school children and their families.
Every child deserves the opportunity for an education. Together we can turn this dream into a reality and make the world a better place.
